Education

Word of the day: capricious
Meaning: Characterized by or subject to whim; impulsive and unpredictable

Before I get on with my entry, a small delayed note for everyone here.

Hi everyone,

We will be at Chinatown Point mall tomorrow 22 Jan and 5 Feb to spread the message about kindness and compassion to animals as well as to tell people to think carefully before getting a dog just because it is the Year of the Dog !

Details
Date : 22/1/06 5/2/06
Time : 2.30pm to 6.30pm
Venue : Chinatown Point 133 New Bridge Road

ASD will also be featured on CNA's Get Real program and the topic is on whether Singapore is a throwaway society. You can see Wiskey and Pammy, 2 dogs that were abandoned and their current condition now. The program will screen at these dates and times, so get tune in and judge for yourselves whether Singaporeans are a practical, materialistic lot !
Monday (23 Jan): 8.30pm and 11.30pm
Tuesday (24 Jan): 10.30am
Saturday (28 Jan): 5.30pm
Sunday (29 Jan): 2.30pm

Alright, you guys are still in time for the repeat telecast on 28th and 29th january. So, right, stay tune to Channelnewsasia for the documentary! If you don't have that channel right there on your beloved squarish black or silver box, get out the dusty menu and do some tuning to the channel. Kind friends, soulmates and fellow passersby, I do hope you can help to spread the news which I have underlined. Please get everyone to think really carefully because keeping a pet is a lifetime commitment. There are simply too many unwanted dogs and cats a year and these animal welfare societies requires a large amount of land and capital to sustain these animals' survival. When reality crashes with dreams, some animals have to go. This a cruel fact that happens right here in Singapore. Thousands of animals are being euthanised a year in SPCA because there are simply too many to be handled. Think about their plight and stop blaming them for euthanising these animals. Staff and volunteers of SPCA are those who suffer greater hurt from seeing more and more animals being put to sleep. They truly care and want to give these animals the best but there's a limit to how much a person can do. Don't abandon your pets and try to adopt if you really want one. Make a difference, start today!

Banner quotes: To you, he may just be a dog. But, to him, you are his everything.

I am really sad to see an increase in the amount of strays loitering near the void deck of my block as compared to a month ago. It just sets me to thinking about the increase in the number of animal abuse and the evil-doers are just let off with a light sentence of probably a fine. Think about it, Singapore is considered to be a highly developed country with a literacy rate of 94.6% in the year 2004 (statistics extracted from http://www.singstat.gov.sg). So now, what has education done to our people?

If education produces a bunch of evil-doers, why bother studying?
If education produces barbarian, why bother studying?
If education produces ungracious people, why bother studying?
If education makes us more unfeeling, why bother studying?

I am not pin-pointing everything to people being too highly educated. I have nothing much against the education system right here in Singapore because I am brought up in the system and I am surviving relatively well. The only thing that I have to say is that there is an increase in the amount of people losing their humanity and subject to doing things beyond our imagination. Imagine jostling and pushing so that you can get into the train. Imagine throwing a kitten who can barely defend itself down from 10th storey. Imagine stapling the dog's ears and imagine leaving your once beloved pet dog on the streets to fend for itself just because it is no longer cute and lovely.

So what has civics and moral education done to us? It is just a tool for moulding hypocrites I had say. So what if you score a 100% in CME and the next moment you kill someone on the streets for staring at you. Does that gives you the priority of not being hanged just because you are a pseudo model student? Well, wait on and it will never happen even in your next life. I am disgusted at people's actions at times especially when they jostle up the bus just to get a seat and leave you hanging and nearly falling down the bus exit. There are some who makes use of every little single gap and pushing you out of the train cabin just to that they can get home on time. Now, may I ask if you really think you are the only one who is rushing home after work/school? Come on, everybody had a fair share of waiting for the train and fucking stop pushing us out of the cabin as though you owned it! Then, I'm left outside the train, looking bewildered and anticipating for the next train to come and get myself pushed out of the cabin again.

N.B: This entry is written in a state of anger after my train incident last week. Please do not take it to heart and it's not meant to target anyone. However, please help to spread the news about considering first before getting a pet dog. I honestly do not wish for more tragedy to happen. Adios!

Happy Dog Year

Word of the day: gastronome
Meaning: A connoisseur of good food and drink

Small note: Did my spring cleaning the whole morning. So, right now, I'm getting my ass down to blogging as promised. Hopefully my mental state allows me to do so. I'm feeling rather foreign after abandoning my computer in the closet for a whole 17 days. I hope it wasn't lonely living in the closet since I've placed my favourite Billabong beach towel over it =D. A small favour to ask of friends. Please do not send chain letters quoting me to forward it on lest I get cursed by the ultimate of having a thousand cows trampling over me and chandeliers falling down on me from the sky. Thank you for that. My heart is too weak to handle such mails especially if a ghastly picture suddenly pops out of nowhere and says, "boo!"

I'm a gastronome! I love good food. I love great drinks. I love fine dining. I love tall velvet chairs. I love those ultimate ambience. I love friendly service. I love shiny wine glasses. I love aromatic rose hips' tea. So now, I'm waiting for 10th of february to have a feast again!

Finally went shopping yesterday with my dearest vanessa. We started off at bras brasah where she got herself a box of foam hearts. After which, we headed on to bugis where I got my b** and the 100% wool beret! Finally right dine? Hahaha, we have been there for so many times and I've finally got that beret for myself. Alright, one of the reasons is that it's the last piece there and I was so afraid I will never see my loved beret again so this got me to part with my $46.00 to Muji. Nice quality and it got my dad being really fascinated about it. Afterwhich was lunch at Mos Burger where we had almost the usual stuff. Fries, hamburgers, milk tea and minestrone soup.

Next on, we made our way to Suntec city where vanez bought a pair of shoes from charles and keith. It was supposedly to be for her work la, huh? Well anyway, a piece of good news here. After spring cleaning today, I found an issue of teenage that features Kone, so do get that copy from me soon yeah?

Next stop, Marina Square where I got my bottoms from. A pair of long pants and pleated skirt from Reev. We bought a black rag doll for apey and she find it scary la. Wah liew, never appreciate people's kind effort one sia. How can like that? If you can't get to sleep, then you see that doll and make yourself faint. I sompa guarantee you can sleep very well. Then, it was back to Suntec again where I got my short jacket from B.U.M equipment and a pair of silver shoes from Charles and Keith.

Okay, it actually took me so long just to write a short entry. I will be back for more actions tomorrow because my show is on right now! Oh, anyway, I finally managed to visit the threading shop along selegie road for facial hair removal and eyebrow shaping. I kindda think my eyebrows look weird right now. But oh well...STAY TUNE BABES!
