Autumn's Festival - nostalgic memories

Word of the day: juxtaposing
Meaning: to place side by side, especially for comparison or contrast

Small note: I would like to apologize for a mistake made yesterday. In the previous entry, I wrote that the poly students are having their mid-year examinations. It is actually just a major examination and not a mid-year examination because they have only commenced 4 months into the year so mid-year would thus be an inappropriate term.

Yeah yeah yeah, the annual autumn's festival (commonly known as lantern's festival) is here again! How can one actually forgo the fragrance of the baked mooncakes as well as the good-looking lanterns that is hanging at the void deck of the flats. It usually brings about a nostalgic vibe. We would be carrying paper lanterns when we were young. The battery-operated lanterns were probably not that much of a fashion back in those days. Firstly, they were costly and parents won't buy them because it is only used for a day. As such, big and small paper lanterns were used instead, with printings of cartoon characters on it.

Mum went for an autumn's festival dinner yesterday night held by the resident's committee. She came home with a pretty interesting lantern of Monkey God, Sun Wu Kong. This struck on me that I had not been celebrating this festival for ages. Back to the times when I was probably still in Primary school with no such things as internet and MSN where people spend most of their time on. A whole group of children (mostly comprising of cousins and neighbours) would gather at the playground and play with packets after packets of candles. Perhaps at this point, I cannot possibly fathom what is so interesting about candles but that was what that kept us entertained throughout the night. That were the days where even the tiniest thing could keep us occupied. That were the days where everybody had no troubles. That were the days when things was simple. It sets me to thinking about the current situation we are in. Is it because we have no choice but life is simply fraught with problems and difficulties. Is it because we are all asking to attain the state of perfection or is it because we have lost that sense of innocence lying deep within us. We have to fight our way through in order to sustain in the society. The survival of the fittest is what they would always say.

As I get through to the different stages of life, I longed for the times when I was carefree, the times when everybody will play like there's no tomorrow.

The lantern my mum got home from the dinner. It goes "boom boom boom boom, I want you in my room, let's spend the night together..." What a horny monkey -.-'''

Ondre checking out the horny creature before feasting on his apples.

Ondre far away from the lantern. He doesn't fancy horny creatures.
