Honour your words

Word of the day: Escapade
Meaning: a wild and exciting undertaking (not necessarily lawful)

Small note: In an effort to "learn more" and "know more", there will be a word posted together with its meaning everyday (I will try my best). Together, we shall strive towards having a better knowledge of this language. Meanwhile, I might sound pretty contradicting because I have just said that people are over-emphasizing on English but I can't help it because blogger can't seem to configure Chinese characters.

"Promises are meant to be broken" is what a good friend told me several years ago. How apt. How often do you see a person going all out just to fulfil a promise that he/she has made? I would say I had hardly seen one before.

Sometimes, promises are meant as a white lie for your loved ones because you know that by presenting this token it would make them feel better or even perhaps recover from their terminal illness.
Some promise to make people smile.
Some promise to fulfil.
Some promise to honour it.
Some promise to get through.
Some promise to patronize.
And most importantly, some promise to lie.

Some people promise just to get through their mistakes. "Don't worry, I promise I will do it" or "I promise I will change" are cliched excuses which many use to ensure that people believe them. How pathetic. Perhaps, it has never occurred to them that promises are formed from sincerity and it will seem cheap if not honoured. Perhaps it has never even occurred to them that it is something they have to fulfil once spoken.

Anyway, on a lighter note, my holidays is drawing to an end soon. This meant that busy schedules will start filling in my days soon and an incredulous workload is awaiting me. I will lose my momentary freedom and get banished back to hell (not that studying is hell but my school is). Oh...allow me to embrace my last weeks of happiness. Good luck to those taking their "A" levels soon and mid-year exams for the poly students. I am off to get my cool pack for the burning skin.

N.B: This entry is not targeted at anyone who reads this. Hahaha! It was written out of boredom. See what has boredom done to me.
